Farming Rural 03

Willard Bahm

August 22, 1931 ~ June 10, 2020 (age 88)

Willard “Tyke” Bahm, 88, formerly of Flasher, passed away at his home on June 10, 2020, surrounded by his family.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Mandan Union Cemetery.  Please bring your own chair if you’re unable to stand for the service.  A luncheon will follow at Stonehome, on the roof top.

Born August 23, 1931 to Henry and Hulda (Amundson) Bahm, Tyke had 2 brothers, Glen (Arlene) and Charles (Ione) and 3 sisters, Fay (Richard Oster), Jean (Joe Urness), and Sharron (Jerry Johnson).

Tyke spent his life as a farmer/rancher north of Flasher.  He met his wife, Donna (Weidner), and they were married in May of 1964.  At the end of the night on their first date, Tyke had one dollar left.  He tore it in half and gave Donna half and he kept the other half.  To this day, he kept his half in his wallet. They operated the same farm as his parents, and this is where they raised their four children, Jodi, Kristi, Kimberly, and Russell.

Tyke loved hunting deer, pheasant, and grouse and liked to fish.  Though farming took up much of his time he made time to take his family camping with the Urness and Johnson families.  Tyke was a member of the Flasher volunteer fire department and ambulance crew for many years.  He was also a member of the Flasher Lions.  No matter where we went in ND or another state, Tyke always found someone he knew.  He had a great sense of humor and treasured spending time with his granddaughters.  He liked playing Whist and watching games shows and westerns on tv.  As a dedicated husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, Tyke will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; his brothers, Glen and Charles; his sister, Fay Oster; sisters-in-law, Ione Bahm and Anna Marie Reather (Donna’s sister); his brothers-in-law, Jerry Johnson and Richard Oster; his nephew, Kenny Bahm; and niece, Lorlie Urness.

He is survived by his children, Jodi, Kristi (Steve Sanders), Kim (Patrick Perkins), and Russell; granddaughters, Mora and Lauren Sanders; sisters, Jean (Joe Urness) and Sharron Johnson; brother-in-laws, Herb Weidner and Darvin Reather; sister-in-law, Arlene Bahm; and several nieces and nephews.
