Virginia Larson

March 18, 1936 — October 20, 2019

Virginia ‘Ginny’ Lee Hauge Larson, age 83, of Almont, ND met the Lord the evening of October 20, 2019, after a day filled with visits by family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Sims Lutheran Church, Almont, with Rev William Dodd officiating.  Burial will be at Sims Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 6 PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Virginia was born March 18, 1936, in Elgin, ND to Arnold and Gertrude (McLean) Hauge. After the loss of her mother at a young age, she was blessed with a wonderful step-mother, Hilda (Ketterling) Hauge.

Virginia graduated from Leith High School and went on to obtain a 2-year business degree in Rapid City, SD. Ginny met Jacob ‘Jake’ Larson at a dance while out with other people, so the next week Jake tracked/hunted her down at the State Capital while she was working on the Game & Fish Dept Magazine.  Ginny and Jake were married November 10, 1957, at Almont Lutheran Church. They lived on the Larson TL Ranch. She loved the ranch life. Ginny did all the books, hauled hay, was an expert combine operator, and a fantastic cook. Family and friends looked forward to her homemade chocolate cake and frosting and scotcheroos.

Ginny loved the outdoors; she was often walking the Ramsland Hills taking pictures and looking for arrowheads. Ski trips with family and friends were always a highlight. She loved bowling, card games, and crosswords.

Ginny survived a massive stroke on her 40th wedding anniversary. Her willpower for independence was beyond strong as she continued doing what she loved, just altered. She always enjoyed visits from family and friends, especially the special ones that got away with teasing her. Ginny’s love of sports never faded, especially cheering for the Vikings and Twins.  Skol!

She was very faithful to the Bible and cherished Sims Church. Through all the hardships in Ginny’s life, her faith carried her. We know she is happy to be with the Lord, Jake, Jamie and all the family in heaven.

She leaves behind her daughter, Julie (Craig) Nelson, Watford City;  sons, Jay (Tracy) Larson, Almont and Joel (Joy) Larson, Las Vegas, NV; Grandchildren, Amanda (Jorey) Dahners, Devon (Maureen) Larson, Rilie (Marci) Larson, Garret Larson, Tyler Larson, Ashlee (Cody) Jennings, Alexa (Chris) Carslon, and Janelle (Cody) Ceynar; Great-grandchildren, Addison, Elle, Fallon and Eva Dahners and Rae Larson;  sisters, Elsie Emch, Carol (Marvin) Ritz, Melonie (Owen) Wells, Melodie (Casper) Hartman;  brothers, Mike (Grace) Hauge, Pat (Kathy) Hauge, Charles Hauge, and Danny (Patsy) Hauge; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and daughter, Jamie (Larson) Bauer.
