Susan (Loe) Tanser

June 8, 1959 — November 15, 2019

Susan M. (Clark) (Loe) Tanser, 60, Mandan, died November 15, 2019 at her home under the care of hospice following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, November 25, 2019 at Mandan United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Adams officiating.  Inurnment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Bismarck.  The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Susan was born June 8, 1959 in Bottineau, ND to David I. and Vivian (Schmidt) Clark.  She was raised on a farm near Bottineau.  Susan was a member of 4-H and FFA for many years and was proud to be the 1977 ND Shorthorn “Lassie Queen”, the person in charge of the rabbit exhibits at the State Fair.  On August 2, 1980 she married Kenneth Loe in Bottineau and they had two daughters together.  They divorced in 2003 but remained close friends.  She married Robert Tanser on September 11, 2004 and they divorced in October 2015.  Susan loved running her in-home daycare for 14 years.  She then worked at St. Andrew’s Hospital in Bottineau as a dietary aide for 20 years.  After moving to Mandan, she worked at HIT as a direct support professional until October 2019 leaving due to illness.

Susan was an excellent cook and baker and was known for her scotcheroos.  She was loving and very caring to all, even her daughter’s friends called her Mom.  She was a “Ms. Fix-it” and used anything she could to repair whatever she needed to.  A treasured and beloved mom, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, Susan will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Blessed to have shared in her life are her two daughters, Tracey Loe, Mandan, and Victoria (Freddy) Martinez, Bakersfield, CA; three grandchildren, Jordyn Wilson and Ally and Freddy Martinez;  her mother, Vivian Clark, Bottineau; three sisters, Barb (Ross) Olson, Detroit Lakes, MN, Sandra Clark, Bottineau, and Phylis (Jerry) Fossum, Wahpeton; one brother, David W. (Bonnie) Clark, Bottineau; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; as well as her former husband, Kenneth Loe.

Susan was preceded in death by her father; and two grandchildren (David and Abigail).
