Selma Moore

October 8, 1918 — February 3, 2020

Selma Moore, 101, Mandan, died Monday, February 3, 2020 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 7, 2020 at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, with Rev. Deanna Reikow officiating.  Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan and will continue one hour prior to service at the church.

Selma was born October 8, 1918 in New Salem, the daughter of John and Louise (Treude) Seeger.  She grew up and received her early education in the New Salem area.  Selma received her Standard Degree from the Dickinson Teachers College in 1941 and was awarded her B.S. degree from UND Ellendale Teachers College in 1963 with a major in Elementary and minors in Business Education and English.  She taught school for over 37 years.

On January 14, 1944 she married Lt. Leonard Moore at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riverside, CA.  Selma was active in church, teaching Sunday school classes and working with youth organizations.  She was involved with Cub and Brownie scouting organizations as well as the Ladies Auxiliary and Retired Teacher’s organizations.  After retiring from teaching, her interest in helping children continued.  She received a special volunteer plaque for her dedicated service at the Charles Hall youth program.  She continued helping children in the summers at the Mandan Library.  Lastly volunteering by calling for Senior Citizens Golden Age activities.  She looked forward to the inspiration of Christian Women’s programs which she attended monthly.

Left to share her memory is her son, Raleigh (Janice) Moore, Mandan; granddaughter, Teresa (Jeff) Swank, Mandan; grandson, Adam (Ari) Ehlis, Bismarck; and great-grandson, Bridger Swank.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Iris Seeger and Lavern Roth; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard, sisters, Ida Gappert and Elaine Repnow; brothers, Erwin and Ewald Seeger and brothers-in-law, Milton Repnow and Fred Gappert.  She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Evelyn Geiselman, brothers and sisters-in-law: Lester and Pauline Moore, Robert and Dorothy Moore, Raleigh and Arla Moore and a brother-in-law, Galen Roth, all of Indiana.

Memorials are preferred to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Charles Hall Youth Services, or Central Dakota Humane Society.
