November 2, 1927 — September 12, 2020

Arthur Leland “Lee” Rask, 92, Mandan, died September 12, 2020 at Edgewood Mandan.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with Rev. Christina Martin officiating.  Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

Lee was born November 2, 1927 to Axel and Edna (Carlson) Rask and raised on the family farm south of Mandan. He graduated from Mandan High School and later enlisted in the US Navy, serving in WWII.  Honorably discharged in 1947, Lee returned to Mandan.  On November 23, 1950 he married Vivian Raaen in Mandan.  Lee worked for Montana Dakota Utilities for 39 years and was a volunteer fireman, eventually serving as assistant fire chief.  He loved fishing on the Missouri River and liked watching the Minnesota Twins.  He adored his grandkids as his “partners in crime” and always attended their activities.  Lee was a dedicated husband to Vivian, especially through her struggles with Alzheimer’s.

Blessed to have shared in his life are three sons, Craig (Sue), Mandan, Trent, Houston, TX, and Perry, Decatur, IL; three grandchildren, Sara (Bill) Helbling, Amy Rask (Ken Vetter), and Alan Rask; and two great grandchildren, Emma and Will Helbling.

Lee was preceded in death by his beloved wife in 2003, his parents, seven brothers, three sisters, and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Rask.

The family gives a special thank you to the staff at Edgewood Mandan Memory Care and Caring Edge Hospice for their wonderful care of Lee.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The funeral will be live streamed on this website.
