Florence May Weekes, 93, passed away peacefully with many family members coming to say their goodbyes and others were there in spirit due to Covid restrictions on December 24, 2020 while living at the Missouri Slope Care Center.
A Celebration of Life for Florence will take place sometime in June 2021. The family is hoping to have a picnic as Florence loved having picnics!
Florence was born May 6, 1927 to Henry and Alma (Wuertz) Borchers in Judson, ND. She attended New Salem High School then later moving to Mandan with her parents.
Florence was joined in marriage to Anton (tony) W Weekes on February 16, 1958 in Mandan. Together they raised seven children: Deborah (Grealing) Starck, Center; Dwight (Lee) Boespflug, Lincoln, ND; Francis (Barbara) Weekes, Bismarck; Frederick (Donna) Weekes, Aurora, SD; Joyce (Gene) Rademacher, New Salem; Janet (Monte) Roe, Mandan, and Anton Weekes Jr., Bismarck. Gama Flo was so very fond of her 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Bismarck-Mandan. She worked as a Pizza Chef at Italian Village Pizza Parlor from 1962-1982 and the White House Café from 1982-1985 when she retired along with her husband. In retirement she enjoyed embroidering kitchen towels for all her children and loved playing with her grandchildren. In her later years she developed dementia, which is when she moved to Missouri Slope.
She was preceded in death by her husband Anton W (Tony) Weekes Sr, her parents Alma and Henry Borchers, and two sons-in-law; Monte Roe and Gene Rademacher, siblings: Erna (Arnold) Christian; Harold Borchers; Arnold Borchers; Alice (Reuben) Ulmer; Emma (Bill) Seifert; Herman Borchers; Erwin (Eleanor) Borchers; Irene (Paul) Backer and Clarence (Cecilia) Borchers.
In lieu of flowers and donations the family wishes you to plant a Lilac bush (Florence’s favorite) in her memory.
A special thank you to all the MNA, CAN and Nursing Staff at Missouri Slope Care Center.
