Calvin Feland

Calvin Feland, 57, of Bismarck, ND, died April 4, 2021 from a fall in his home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM CDT on Monday, April 12, 2021 at United Lutheran Church of Almont with Rev. William Dodd officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at Almont Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Calvin was born November 17, 1963 in Bismarck to Art and Marie (Cronin) Feland. He graduated from Almont High School and attended Dickinson State College. He excelled in high school basketball, high school rodeo, and college rodeo. He qualified for the national rodeo finals in high school and college.

In 1994, he married Shannon Larsen, and they were blessed with two children: Brita and Clay.  Cal worked for the Morton County Law Enforcement Center for 18 years and was currently working for the Dacotah Foundation.

He loved his children and enjoyed attending their sporting events. He also loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time at the cabin on the Heart River. He was a talented calf roper and team roper and stayed competitive in both for many years. In more recent years, he enjoyed playing tennis and basketball with friends.

Cal was a kind-hearted and fun-loving person. He enjoyed helping people and spending time with friends and family.

Cal is survived by his mother, Marie (Dolly) Feland; two children Brita Feland, Grand Forks & Clay Feland, Bismarck; two sisters, Carol Hoovestol, Bismarck & Joan (Roger) Hoovestol, Mandan; one brother, Tim Feland, Maricopa, AZ; 6 nieces and nephews; Kay (Jim) Pexa, Kim (Brandon) Leingang, Scott (Kendra) Hoovestol, Russell (Laura) Hoovestol, Randy (Michelle) Hoovestol, and Ryan (Kama) Hoovestol; a special Godmother, Janet Feland Hanson, and 13 great nieces and nephews.

Cal was preceded in death by his father, Art Feland; brother-in-law, Warren Hoovestol; his grandparents, and a special aunt Mabel Feland Ferguson.
