Vivian Fisher

d. January 21, 2013

Vivian Marie Fisher, 62, Mandan, was carried by the angels to Heaven on January 18, 2013. She bravely fought a yearlong battle with cancer, remaining positive and never once complained. She passed away at her daughters home surrounded by her family and their love.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, with Reverend Deanna Reikow officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery, south of Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan. No visitation will be held at the church.
Vivian was born December 10, 1950 to George and Vlasta (Folk) Wright. She moved from the farm near Center to Mandan. On June 6, 1968 she married Gary Fisher in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Linda, and husband Calvin Niess. A simple and independent lady, Vivian always got to the point and had a heart of gold. Her friends and family always said that she was such a hard worker, whether it was farming alongside her husband or simply keeping up her yard, garden, and flowers. Her love for painting helped her to start her own business of wallpapering, staining, and painting. A terrific homemaker Vivian took pride in her home being spotless. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, embroidery, fishing, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved spending time with her grandchildren as they were growing up and referred to them as “honey or baby” and was never able to say no to any of their requests. After moving from the farm into Mandan, she was able to spend more time with her great grandchildren and was looking forward to her granddaughter, Kaylee’s, wedding in June. Vivian was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mandan. A loving wife and a wonderful mother, Vivian’s love and memories will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 44 years, Gary Fisher; son, Wesley; and daughter, Sandy Schmidt, all of Mandan; granddaughters, Crystal Schmidt and Kaylee Schmidt (fiancée, Joe Schlosser), Mandan; grandson, Coleton Schmidt, Mandan; step grandson, Jeremy Schmidt, Phoenix, AZ; two great grandchildren, Jace and Kambree, Mandan; sisters, Linda (Calvin) Niess, Mandan and Nadine (Larry) Fisher, Driscoll; mother-in-law, Loretta Fisher, St. Anthony; sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene (Gerald) Rebenitsch, Fort Rice, Ronnie (JoAnn) Fisher and Darby (Ruthie) Fisher, all of St. Anthony; numerous nieces and nephews; and Lana Sleeper, who considered Vivian to be like a second mom.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Wesley Gary Fisher; and father-in-law, Clifford Fisher.
