Sharon Curtiss was promoted to be with her Heavenly Father on February 23, 2024. We grieve but rejoice for her release from cancer.

Sharon was born on October 17, 1956, in Bismarck, and grew up on her family ranch near Shields and attended Fort Yates High School. She went on to attend Bismarck Junior College and North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton where she earned her Associate of Science in Accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for Mor-Gran-Sou Electric in Flasher until she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Minnesota State University in Moorhead. After graduating, she went to work for Simmons Advertising in Grand Forks. It was in Grand Forks where she met the love of her life, Chuck, on a blind date. Sharon and Chuck were married September of 1992.

Carl was born in 1993 while Chuck was a student at the University of North Dakota. After Chuck's graduation, they moved to Hettinger, where they were blessed with Eric; Sharon's faith in Christ was born and blossomed. After a time in Hettinger, they moved to the Hazen area where Sarah was born. Sharon and Chuck moved to Mandan in the summer of 1998 where they raised their family. Sharon and Chuck chose to homeschool their children. They instilled in all three a faith-based world view that launched them into adulthood. Sharon was a doting grandmother who consistently went many extra miles for her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and anyone in need of help.

Sharon will be remembered for her strong faith, giving spirit, and willingness to serve. She was an active member serving in various volunteer roles at GracePoint Church and was especially passionate about Operation Christmas Child and AWANA. She also served her community as a volunteer with the Bismarck-Mandan Area Home Educators, the Mandan Marlins Swim Team, and as a bookkeeper for Grace Evangelical Free Church in Hettinger along with other acts of service to her friends, family, and community. Sharon was famous for sewing hooded bath towels as baby gifts. The image of an infant being swaddled in a warm hooded towel could be seen as and example of how God holds us, protects us, and comforts us in his arms. Sharon's strong faith was and will be an example for those that knew and served alongside her.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her husband, Chuck; her children and their spouses, Carl (Mattea, Grand Forks), Eric (Micah, Erskine), and Sarah (Minneapolis); her grandchildren, Evelyn, Ada, and Tatum; and her sisters, Charlotte, Hattie, and Audrey, and their families. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents Donald and Pat Port and her stepmothers, Wylma and Edith.
