Russell Hohbein

July 2, 1952 — October 6, 2014

Russell Hohbein, age 62, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 6, 2014 at his rural home in New Salem, ND.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Peace Church, New Salem, with Rev. Joshua Eddy officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan, ND.

Russ was born July 2, 1952 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Virgil and Alice (Wolf) Hohbein. He was raised and educated in Mandan, ND. He attended North Dakota State School of Science, majoring in Auto Mechanics. Russ was employed by BNSF Railroad until the time of his retirement in 2012. On September 7, 2014, he married the love of his life, Vicki Kary.

One of Russ’s true passions in life was his love of classic cars. He spent many hours restoring classic cars and attending car shows. Russ was a family man that enjoyed time spent with his family, engaging them with hours of the Marbles game. Russ also spent many content hours fishing on his creek.

Russ will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Hohbein; his three daughters, Katie (Bob) Brunner of Minot, ND, Shannan (Merlin) Libak of Hawley, MN, and Lacey (Scott) Hindt of Clovis, NM; his son, Jesse Hohbein of New Salem, ND; 9 grandchildren, Brittany, Sianna, and Kaden, Chase, Madison, and Zach, Tate and Taryn, and Ethan; his 3 stepchildren Tonya, Valerie, Wade, & their families; brother, Mugs (Mary) Hohbein; and sisters, Peggy (Bob) Paul, and Sally (Randy) Leingang.

Russ was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Jaydon Hohbein.
