Rose Haugen

November 23, 1932 — January 6, 2021

Rosalia “Rose” Haugen, 88, Mandan, passed away on January 6, 2021 at Prospera on Sunset Care Center in Mandan.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with Rev. Phil Leer presiding.  Burial will follow at Stone Lutheran Cemetery southwest of Mandan.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, January 11 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Rose was born November 23, 1932 in Mandan to Michael and Matilda (Messer) Gress.  She grew up in Mandan where she attended school.  On April 19, 1955 she married Kenneth L. Haugen in Mandan.  The two made their home on a farm southwest of town where they raised their five children.  Rose worked with Kenneth on the dairy farm for many years.  She also drove rural school bus and later drove bus in town as well. She enjoyed her time driving bus and cared for the kids she drove and they loved her as well.  Rose also enjoyed her horses and listening to country music.  Sundays and holidays were so important to Rose as she loved preparing for large meals with family and friends.  Rose was a member of the Moose and Eagles Clubs as well as the Highland Homemakers.

She is survived by her children, Laura (Richard) Hills, Georgetown, KY, Dale (Cindy) Haugen, Gary (Melinda) Haugen, Wayne (Jackie) Haugen, and Steven (Stacy Roth) Haugen, all of Mandan; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, LaVern Haugen and Mary Ann Haugen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She also leaves her childhood friends, Linda Boehm and Angie Whitehead.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and grandson, Raymon Haugen.
