Patricia Stoe

November 22, 1925 — February 15, 2015

Patricia Stoe, 89, Mandan, died February 15, 2015 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with Reverend Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Patricia was born November 22, 1925 in Rigz Township, ND to Charlie and Avis (Swanson) Barkus. She attended Rigz rural school for 6 years and then moved to Jamestown with her parents and two sisters. Her father ran the local Coast to Coast hardware store in Jamestown. Pat graduated from Jamestown High School and Jamestown College where she took up singing, orchestra, and violin. On May 31, 1951 she married Dr. L.A. Stoe, DVM, and worked as his accountant and lab tech for 42 years at Kist Livestock in Mandan. They enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada as well as the fish fries back home with friends afterwards. Pat was an excellent cook who loved to entertain. They had a cabin on Lake Tschida for 15 years. Pat was an avid bowler. She bowled at Ten Spot Lanes from the year it opened until she was 79 years old. She also loved to play bridge all of her life. Pat was a proud member of the Friday lunch bunch for more than 20 years.

Pat is survived by two sisters, Youlin Colling, Cheyenne, WY and Joyce Hodges, Norwood, CO; one daughter, Judy Worthington, Clay, MI; many nieces and nephews; as well as great nieces and nephews and the Kasper family.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; one son; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, Pat would have appreciated a donation to the ND Humane Society.
