Odelia “Tillie” Kuntz, 88, Mandan, died July 2, 2016 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with Monsignor Chad Gion celebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Vigil at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Odelia was born May 24, 1928 in Center to Frank and Rose (Erhardt) Messer. She attended Oliver County School and Brisbane High School. On May 11, 1948 Odelia married Philip Kuntz at St. Martin’s Church in Center. They lived on a farm in the Brisbane area and moved to Mandan in 1956. Odelia loved polka music and candy. She was talented at needle point and crochet. Times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, were the most precious to Odelia. Philip died in May 1988. In 1995 Odelia moved to Liberty Heights in Mandan and in 2011 she entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the care center. Odelia will be remembered as a very sweet, sincere, and caring lady. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Blessed to have shared her life are her three sons, Leroy Kuntz, Baldwin, Adam (Linda) Kuntz, SD, and George (Jessica) Kuntz, Baldwin; 7 grandchildren, Linda (Wes) Sprenger, Adam (Erin) Kuntz, Jessica Whistler, Crystal Marmon, Sarah Knutson, and Philip and Emily Kuntz; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Barnhardt and Rose Meyhoff, both of Bismarck; sister-in-law, Adeline Messer, Mandan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Odelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip;daughter-in-law, Betty Kuntz; brother, Frank G. Messer; sister, Margaret Brown; infant siblings, Paul, Anton, and Mathilda; and brothers-in-law, John Barnhardt, Edward Meyhoff, and Nick Brown.
