The mystery of life has been revealed to Muriel Gullickson Berg, 92, of Mandan, when she passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, in Bismarck.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Engage Church, 4209 Old Red Trail NW, Mandan, ND 58554.

Private family interment will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.

Muriel (Gullickson) Berg was born on February 16, 1933, to Harold and Mabel (Strait) Bauer in Minot, ND. She was raised on the Bauer family farm northeast of Max, ND. Muriel attended Iota Flat Country School through the 8th grade and then attended Max High School.

On February 10, 1952, Muriel married Wallace Gullickson at Hope Lutheran Church in rural Sawyer, ND. The couple began their life together in Benedict, ND, before moving to Minot, where Muriel worked at the Parker Hotel parking cars. They later returned to the Benedict area, first to their farm east of town and eventually into the town itself.

During this time she worked many years running a painting business before purchasing and operating The Hitching Post Bar, which she owned and managed for 14 years until her retirement.

In 2005, Muriel married Jim Berg in Aurora, CO. They were married until his passing in 2015.

Following Jim's death, Muriel made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jim Donahue, she enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona.

Surviving our kind, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother are her children:

Barbara (Michael) Ireland, Bonnie (Jim) Donahue, Dwaine (Marian) Gullickson, and Brian Gullickson;

Grandchildren: Dana Cornett, Leah (Teilo) Krause, Scott (Dana) Olson, Vinson (Stephanie) Olson, Eric Gullickson, Wayne Gullickson, Jacki (Nate Brunner) Gullickson, Wyatt (Lexi) Gullickson, Michael (Griselda) Gullickson, and Jessica (Shawn) Edgell;

Great-grandchildren: Christian Lunsford, Falon Cornett, Ty Olson, Easton Olson, Elizabeth Edgell, Mikazia Tarasen, Beau Brunner, and Mila Brunner;

Great-great-grandson: Oliver Lunsford.

Muriel was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wallace Gullickson; her parents; brothers Wayne and Dale Bauer; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

The family of Muriel wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful team at Missouri Slope Care Center for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to her during her time there.
