Monty J. Ritz

Monty J. Ritz, 65, of Mandan, died unexpectedly at his home on June 30, 2025.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Pastor Zellers officiating. Burial by family will be at a later date in Almont, ND. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church.

Monty was born September 11, 1959, to Bonnee and Leroy Ritz. He graduated from Almont High School in 1977. Monty was first and foremost a rancher with a love for the land and his animals. After quitting ranching, he worked at Hertz for 17 years. He later worked at the University of Mary, a job he truly loved and was proud of. His daughter, Zoe, was able to attend U of M because of his job. Monty loved the outdoors and hunting with family and friends was his favorite thing to do.

Monty will be remembered for his kind heart and willingness to help others, his faith, and the love that he had for his family.

Blessed to have shared in his life is his wife of 31 years, Jackie Ritz; children, Jake, Zane, and Zoe; mother, Bonnee Ritz; and sister, Paula (Mike) Massee.

Monty was preceded in death by father, Leroy Ritz.
