Martha Ann was born April 5, 1947 to Jeff and Mary (Roberts Weaver) Margison in Anderson, IN where she lived until she graduated from high school. She then took a job as a travelling magazine salesperson. Her work took her across the states and while in North Dakota, she met Douglas Kautzman. They were married on December 28, 1967 at St. Pius V Catholic Church in New Salem. They made their home on a farm between Mandan and New Salem. Marty worked diligently alongside Doug on the farm especially baling and milking cows. A wonderful homemaker, Marty was a great cook and also liked to garden and sew. In the mid 90’s she started working a mail route which she continued until her death. She also did inventory for RGIS and sold Mary Kay. Marty and Doug enjoyed several fun family trips and together they went to Hawaii and the Virgin Islands. In recent years, she traveled to Georgia and Florida to visit her sisters. Marty was very active in the Mandan Seventh Day Adventist Church where she served as Deaconess, in the choir, and many other activities such as Vacation Bible School. Marty was very passionate about sharing her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with others. She showed kindness, love, and acceptance to everyone she knew. If you knew her, your life was blessed. A beloved wife, mother, and “Gommie”, Marty will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 45 years, Douglas Kautzman, New Salem; three sons, Virgil (Morgan) Kautzman, Michael Kautzman, and Matthew Kautzman; four daughters, Melissa Burghart, Nicole (Jim) Froelich, Georgiann (Nick) Hersch, and Elizabeth (Jacob) Gappert; 16 grandchildren, Casey, Devon, Nathaniel; Quinn, Breanne; Danielle, Katherine, Garrett, Christian; Nicholas, Mikaela, Stella; Emma; Noah, Isabelle, and Lexie; one great grandchild, Olivia; four sisters, Elizabeth Evans, Connie Messer, Ann (Cary) Peeples, and M. Carol Grondine (special friend Ralph Miller); in-laws, Dee (Roy) Klaudt, and Daniel Kautzman; many nieces and nephews; and her church family.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Mary Margison; two sisters, Lorraine Lawson and Addie Amos; brother, Jack Weaver; and in-laws, Nick and Elda Kautzman.
