Lyle Moltzen, 78, of Glen Ullin, formerly of New Salem, ND, passed away September 27, 2023, at the Marian Manor Care Center in Glen Ullin.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, Oct. 4th at Peace Church in New Salem with a luncheon to follow. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan.
Lyle was born August 30, 1945, in New Salem, ND to Raymond & Hilma (Tausand) Moltzen. He attended school in New Salem and married Judith Loehke in 1965. Later that year, Lyle entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam for 13 months. When he returned he worked for the state of ND for 8 years before returning to farm with his brother LeRoy for 12 years near New Salem. Lyle then became employed with Traffic Safety Services from 1988 to 2011. He married Peggy (Thompson) Dionne in 1989 and together they made their home in New Salem and later Glen Ullin. Lyle was an avid Minnesota Twins fan, enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends in his younger years, was a member of Peace Church, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Amvets.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Moltzen; son, Jeffrey (Lea) Moltzen of Santee, CA; daughter, Cassandra (James) Colling of Bismarck; son, Russell Moltzen of Bismarck; step-son, Kenny (Erin) Dionne; step-daughter, Kristie Dionne; grandchildren, Amanda Hixson, Jordan Speidel, Madison Speidel, Halie Moulton, Cassandra Colling, Daniel Colling, Haley Dionne, Justice Dionne; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Moltzen; brothers-in-law, Clifford (Debra) Thompson and Rick (Debra) Marquart; and many nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, brother (LeRoy), daughter-in-law (Lisa Moltzen), and brother-in-law (Doug Thompson).
