Lila Zinnel, 79, Mandan, died January 13, 2011 at Medcenter One Hospital, Bismarck, with her loving family by her side.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, January 17, 2011 at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Reverend Jack Carlson officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, January 16 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Lila was born September 11, 1931 in Judson, ND to John and Martha Hohbein. She attended school at Judson and later moved to Mandan to work at Red Owl making doughnuts. Lila met Lawrence Zinnel at the Red Owl. They were married on September 10, 1949 and made their home in Mandan. Lila and Lawrence had 3 children, Lillian (Edward) Gallagher, Highlands Ranch, CO, Lyle (Teri), Derby, CT, and Lloyd (deceased). During her lifetime she worked at Red Owl, Woolworths, Pats Foods, and Starion Financial. She enjoyed the many wonderful people she got to know through out the years. Lila loved hunting, fishing, dancing, bingo, gardening, and flowers. Trips to Prairie Knights Casino, Colorado, Connecticut, and numerous mini trips with Lawrence around North Dakota always brought her pleasure. Lila had a wonderful life, treasuring her wonderful, caring husband and 3 great kids.
Lila will be missed by her 5 grandchildren, Todd, Minneapolis, MN, Jason, Castle Rock, CO, Mike, Highlands Ranch, CO, Zach, Mandan, and Tyler, Derby, CT; 6 great grandchildren, Colby, Walker, and Cyrus, Highlands Ranch, CO, Morgan and Colton, Castle Rock, CO, and Dustin, Newcastle, WY; and 2 great great grandchildren, Matt and Reena, Newcastle, WY.
She is survived by 3 of 11 siblings, Marvin Hohbein, Ashton, MO, Della Haddad, Las Vegas, NV, and Morna Christiansen, Jamestown, ND. Surviving sisters-in-law, Marion Hohbein, Mandan, Edna Hohbein, Tacoma, WA, Alphild Hohbein, Puyallup, WA, Linda Hohbein, Seattle, WA, and Lela Hohbein, Mandan; brother-in-law Henry Zinnel, Mandan; and many many numerous nieces and nephews.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Lloyd; and 8 siblings .
