Jyler Isaak

January 1, 1984 — January 19, 2020

Jyler “Jy” Isaak, 36, Center, passed away January 19, 2020 in Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Center, with Reverend Dennis Ristvedt officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Center with a prayer service at 7 pm.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Jy was born January 1, 1984 in Bismarck to Burt and Linda (Kautzman) Isaak.  He grew up in Center, graduating in 2003.  Jy spent a lot of his time working for the Square Butte Creek Golf Course in Center as well as working closely alongside his uncle Brent, whom he affectionately called “Joey”.

Jy loved animals, from raising exotic birds to making deer mounts and taxidermy.  From the time of his childhood, Jy loved putting up play corrals built by his grandfather all over the house and being out at the farm. His true passion was golfing.  He was always at the course, whether working or playing rounds of golf with his best friend and father, Burt.  He loved going hunting and would spend countless hours scouting deer and helping others find their deer.  He took more pride in helping others hunt and the look on his face when they got their deer showed that.  Jy was also very creative with painting and woodworking.  He would stop daily to play a game of pinochle with his Gram which meant the world to her and would take all of her quarters which paid for his cigarettes.  Jy was great at making jerky and enjoyed that with a few Busch Lattes.  He was so proud of his vehicles and always kept them in great condition.  His greatest pride and joy were his two nieces, Aysia and Brittyn, who affectionately called him “JyPy”.  He loved spending time with them whether driving around looking for deer sheds, teaching them to golf, or going to their sporting events.

Jy will be dearly missed by his mother, Linda (Rick) Jansen, Detroit Lakes, MN and his father, Burt Isaak, Center; his sister, Jamie (Brac) Mettler, Mandan; his nieces, Aysia and Brittyn Mettler; grandparents, Lu Isaak and Jean Kautzman, both of Center; uncles, Brent “Joey” (Janice) Isaak, Byron (Tere) Isaak, Bruce (Lil) Isaak, Rory (Peggy) Ganten, and Jerry (Sarina) Kautzman; several great aunts, uncles, and cousins; along with his good buddy, Cody Lindstrom.

Jy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray and Wanda Ganten, Paul Isaak, and Ray Kautzman; his uncles, Tracy, Tim, Marty, and Terry Kautzman; and his dog, Mia.
