Jennifer Rebecca Hatzenbuhler, 54, of Mandan, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Bismarck.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan, with burial to follow at Mandan Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Jennifer was born on June 3, 1971, the daughter of Dennis and Pam (Jesser) Hatzenbuhler in Mandan, North Dakota. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Flasher, where she was raised and educated. In Flasher, Jennifer worked at her family's grocery store and cafe. She also was a supervisor at the telemarketing center, Contact America.
Jennifer became a young mother with the birth of her first son Bradley. Later, she married Thomas Schick, he adopted Bradley and together they added daughter, Ashley to their family. The couple later divorced. She found love with Tony Stegmiller, and together they welcomed sons, Matthew and Marshall. The family moved to Mandan where Jennifer has resided since. She and Tony eventually divorced.
Jennifer worked various jobs, but the most memorable was working alongside her father at Burger King. She was artistic and creative, enjoying coloring and drawing. She collected pigs and cookie jars and enjoyed riding motorcycles.
Jennifer's life was an example of perseverance. She faced many hardships and challenges, yet continued to move forward with determination and strength. Those who loved her knew her as someone who never stopped fighting, no matter what life placed in her path. Her children remember a mother whose love remained constant through every season of life, and whose presence, laughter, and voice will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her children, Bradley (Whitney) Schick, Ashley (Zac) Thompson, Matthew (Eden) Stegmiller, and Marshall Stegmiller; her grandsons, Aiden and Stetson; her siblings, Mike (Kari) Hatzenbuhler, Kristen (Conan) Moore, and Maggie (Dusty) Hatzenbuhler; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Joe and Clara Hatzenbuhler and Ted and Margaret Jesser; her aunt, Jackie Mead; and her niece, Jordan Hatzenbuhler.
