Janice was born on July 5,1949, in Bismarck, ND, to Fidelis and Tillie (Frank) Tischmak. She grew up in Shields, ND, on the family ranch and dairy farm. Janice attended country school, St. Gertrudes High School, and graduated from Flasher High School. She then went on to attend Dickinson State College. After college, she moved to Carson and started working at the bank. Around this time, she got her Mach 1 Mustang and had way too much fun with her hot rod! She met the love of her life, Thomas Giese, in McIntosh, South Dakota. She said that the moment she laid eyes on him, she knew he was the one. They were married on June 11,1977, in St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church.

Tom and Janice made their home in Carson, ND. Janice continued to work at Grant County State Bank from 1971 until her retirement, 40 years later. She was active in her community serving on the city park board, JDA, church board, and Legion Auxiliary. Janice had many hobbies including fishing, ceramics, gardening, and canning. She would get off work and can until all hours of the night until every last tomato was canned. She and Tom spent many years playing Horseshoes and bowling on various teams. She even qualified and competed in the National Horseshoe tournament. She enjoyed sports and loved watching her kids and grandkids compete.

Janice always took extra time to check in with family and would drop everything at a moment’s notice to lend a helping hand or run down to the farm to help milk cows. Janice loved any gatherings with family and friends where she could sit down and visit. It was her joy to be able to make special food to take to picnics, birthdays, weddings, and any other social gathering. She loved to help her customers at the bank and genuinely cared about each and every one of them. Jan always took the time to visit and make you feel special. People that knew Jan loved her and she will be greatly missed by all.

Janice and Tom had two children, son, Travis (Gerri) Giese, parents of Delaney and McKenley of Mandan, and daughter, Kellie (Daniel) Dixon, parents of Damon, Kaylee, Kaid, and Kinsey of Aberdeen, SD. Janice will be deeply missed by all her siblings, Ken Tischmak, Mandan, Allen (Cindy) Tischmak, Mandan, Sondy (Brent) Theurer, Mandan, Bryan (Kay) Tischmak, Mandan; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Rick) Martell, McLaughlin, SD, Delora (Bob) Huddleston, Martin, SD; nieces, Rhonda (Jeff) Brooks, Loveland, CO, Rachel (Travis) Kelsch, McLaughlin, SD, Terista Tischmak, Harvey, ND, Shanley (Daniel) Peltier, Bismarck, Heather Tischmak (Zach Leier), Mandan, Katelyn (Dylan) McAlexander, Mandan, ND; nephews, Ricky Hettich, McLaughlin, SD, Emmett (Kristina) Tischmak, Minneapolis, MN, Marshall Tischmak, Mandan, ND, Garrett Tischmak, Mandan, ND, Jonathan (Isabel) Tischmak, Bismarck, ND, Michael Tischmak Bismarck, ND, Grant Theurer, Mandan, ND, Brian (Camille) Martell, Mandan, ND, Robbie Huddleston, Martin, SD, and Rocky (Laura) Huddleston, Martin, SD.
