Janice Ann Erfle

Janice Ann Erfle, 84, Mandan, passed away April 30, 2026, at Miller Pointe in Mandan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Fessenden, ND.

Janice was born December 21, 1941, in Harvey, ND, to Lloyd and Esther (Billigmeier) Fossen. Raised and educated in Fessenden, ND, she graduated in 1959. On January 31, 1960, Janice married her high school sweetheart, Melvin Erfle. The two made their home in Fessenden where their three children, Janet, Brad, and Kim, were born. Janice worked as a telephone operator for a number of years. They moved to Mandan in 1971 when Mel was transferred with the railroad and shared the rest of their years together. Janice loved playing bingo and heading to the casino. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.

Blessed to have shared in her life is her husband of 66 years, Melvin Erfle, Mandan; two sons, Brad and Kim, both of Bismarck; grandson, Austin, Fargo; and great-grandson, Chaske, Fargo; brothers, Lyle (Bonnie) Fossen and Richard (Mary) Fossen; and a sister, Sylvia Reimche.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Mack; and brother, Gary Fossen.

A special thank you to the staff at Miller Pointe for all of the wonderful care that they gave to Janice.

The family would like to invite those attending the service to join them for lunch and fellowship immediately following the memorial service at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home.
