Helen Weissman

Helen Weissman, 96, Mandan, died March 29, 2015, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, 1701 Sunset Dr., Mandan, ND. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Helen was born on a farm north of Glen Ullin, ND on June 28, 1918, to Nick and Anna (Fritz) Beierlein. She was the youngest of four children. Moving from Glen Ullin to Glendive, MT, she attended grades 1-6. The family then moved back to Glen Ullin where she attended parochial school for 7th and 8th grades. In March 1935 she married Peter Weissman. They farmed in the Glen Ullin area before moving to Mandan, ND in May of 1944, where she worked part time at the Lewis and Clark Restaurant. From there she began working at Blue Ribbon Hatchery/Furniture Store, where she worked for over 30 years prior to retiring.

Helen was a Charter member of the Mandan Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting, quilt making, fishing, playing cards, and scrabble. Her cooking and baking, especially her pies and strudel, were always something her family looked forward to enjoying. Helen's biggest love of all was going to the casino.

Helen is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Kottre, Dickinson, ND; sons, Donald, Pine City, MN, Gerald, Andover, MN, and Peter (Linda), Bismarck; 14 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Rueben, Vernon, and Kenneth; and sisters, Ann and Rose.
