Frankie (Thompson) Bittner, 64, of Fargo, formerly of Mandan, passed away suddenly Wednesday morning, November 22, 2023 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Multiple myeloma and all that came with it had crumpled her bones but not her spirit. She had just attained remission again and was recovering slowly. Cancer hadn't taken her, she passed painlessly from a brain hemorrhage due to her thinned blood.
Frankie loved her boys and sadly got to be with her grandson Franklin for only 6 months. All us boys will miss her.
Frankie enjoyed cooking and baking, crafts and decorating. She had a keen eye for treasures at rummage sales & auctions. She was a voracious reader and had a wonderful sense of humor. We laughed a lot in our house, and us boys received her good-natured pranks and teasing often.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Bittner; two sons, Mike and John Bittner; sister, Toni (Chuck) McCombs; her brothers, Halder (Karen) Thompson, Bue "Buck" (Dolly) Thompson, and Rich (Kathy) Thompson.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents Halder and Orvilla Thompson and her nephew Todd Mc Combs.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to charities of your choice will be greatly appreciated.
A funeral mass will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 1st at Spirit of Life Catholic Church in Mandan. Burial will immediately follow in the ND Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan. A luncheon will then follow at the church.
Visitation will be held from 4PM to 6PM Thursday with a 6PM Prayer Service at WEIGEL Funeral Home in Mandan.
