Ernie Beckman, 101, Hannover, died June 7, 2011 at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, with his beloved wife of 71 years at his side.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 10 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Center with Reverend Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 pm at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem on Thursday and from 5-8 pm at the church in Center. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Ernie was born October 7, 1909 in Wells, Minnesota to Henry and Marie (Bethman) Beckman. He was raised and educated in Hannover. Ernie married Erma Yeager on October 8, 1939 in Center. They farmed together 4 miles north of Hannover. Ernie spent his whole life farming and loved working the land and enjoying the outdoors. In 2008 Ernie and Erma moved to the Primrose in Bismarck and later to Elm Crest Manor in New Salem, enjoying each other’s company every day. Blessed to have shared his life is his wife, Erma Beckman, Elm Crest Manor in New Salem; three daughters, Corrine (Bill) Brickman, Omaha, NE, Joyce (Marv) Borgelt, Bismarck, and Audrey (Delbert) Bargmann, Hannover; one son, Wayne (Loretta) Beckman, Hannover; 11 grandchildren, Michael and Daniel Brickman, Chad and Kelly Pearson, Kristin Pegors, Michelle Kupfer, Michael Beckman, and Troy, Justin, and Briana Bargmann; 3 step grandchildren, Laura, Kate, and Michael Borgelt ; 16 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice (Walter) Reinke, Center; two brothers, Wilbert (Loretta) Beckman and Burton Beckman, all of Hannover; sister-in-law, Norma Beckman, Hannover; and many nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Charles “Chuck” Brickman; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian (Ed) Rollenhagen, Bernice (Edwin) Berg, and Irene (Raymond) Jensen; brother, Preston Beckman; sister-in-law, Arlene Beckman; and two nieces, Naomi Jaeger and Susan Soland.
