Eleanor Kadrmas, daughter of Frank and Helen (Huschka) Decker, was born March 5th, 1932 in South Heart, ND. She was raised on the family farm until the eighth grade when at age 13, she and her sister, MaryAnn, were sent to town to work as waitresses to supplement the farm income. Eleanor did this for the next seven years until one day, she served a young Eugene Kadrmas while working at Frankie’s Café. Eleanor was 20 when they married one year later on June 16, 1952. They raised six children, Jeffery, Curtis, Kathleen, Daniel, Laura, and Brenda. Eleanor worked very hard raising her family while supporting Eugene with his home construction business. Eleanor worked as a seamstress for JC Penney for one year where she developed a love and a talent for sewing. Eleanor sewed draperies from her home for several years until Eugene needed her help to grow his business. Her love for sewing meant that her needles were never far away and a loose hem could easily be fixed. Her home was always open and everyone welcomed with the insistence of being served a hot meal. Eleanor, with her light hearted laugh and easy way, was constantly drawn to minister to the needs of others at home, or as she and Eugene often traveled the U.S. Her favorite hobby was going to the flea markets or second hand shops to find a bargain she could share with others. Eleanor had another love, and that is her Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Eleanor’s compassion and prayers for her family and for hurting people lead her tirelessly to minister to the needs of others. Her dedication to sharing her loving Lord has manifested in many lives the joy, peace, and strength of salvation. Her relationship with her Lord created within Eleanor a quite strength and purpose for life. It was that purpose that never faltered, never wavered, never failed, regardless of the circumstances she faced. May we all hear what she now hears: Well done, My good and faithful servant.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years, Eugene Kadrmas; her sons, Jeffery Kadrmas, Curt (Diane Hanson) Kadrmas, Daniel Kadrmas; her daughters, Kathleen Peters, Laura (Tim) Maushardt, Brenda Ellenson; her grandchildren, Jeromie Bachmeier, Faith (Joseph) Fleurat, Jennifer Kadrmas, Anthony Bachmeier, Holly Bachmeier, Victoria Ellenson, Sarah (Marvin) Lepp, Amy Kadrmas, Ryan Kadrmas, and Johnathan Peters; her stepgranchildren, Ashley (Sam) Jones, and Brian Maushardt; her great grandchildren, Lilly Lepp, Ethan Jones, Emily Jones, and Joseph Fleurat III; her brothers, Lawrence (Adeline) Decker, Leonard (Luella) Decker, Clem (Eileen) Decker, Vince (Karen) Decker; her sisters, MaryAnn Reiss, Celestine “Sally” (Gilbert) Lorenz, and Eileen (Art) Gatzke; and her many beloved friends.
