Dorismae Johnson, 95, lifelong resident of Mandan, passed away September 7, 2025, with family by her side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 13th at the Church of St. Joseph in Mandan with visitation one hour prior.
Burial will follow in the Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home in Mandan.
Dorismae was born on September 30, 1929, to Leo and Lillian (Froelich) Eckroth in Mandan. She attended and graduated from Mandan High School.
In 1949, she married Donald P. Johnson. Together they raised five children in Mandan.
In her youth, Doris was active in Mandan Horse & Saddle Club and rode in numerous parades. Horses were one of her many passions. She also worked at the Mandan Drug soda fountain. While raising her children, Doris was an active member of the Mandan Garden Club, which was reflected in the beauty of her yard and at “The Forty,” a beloved family cabin along the Missouri River.
Doris was an avid reader, loved crosswords, puzzles, and crafting. She also loved decorating for every imaginable holiday both inside and out with Christmas, Easter, and Halloween among her favorites.
Doris was a dog lover and had many fury, four-legged best friends over the years.
Doris is survived by her children: Randa (Jerry) Sullivan, Hugo, MN; Barbara Myhre, Bismarck, ND; Thomas Johnson, Mandan, ND; Mary Ellen Bitz, Colorado Springs, CO; Susan (Craig) Rask, Mandan, ND; and Arthur “Lee” (Alice) Johnson, Mandan, ND; as well as her Grandchildren: John (Sue) Sullivan, Mike Sullivan, Brandi (Joel) Beach, Marisa Myhre, David (Emily) Johnson, Kendra (Dennis) Williams, April (Chris) McNeff-Werth, Elizabeth Bitz, Sara (Bill) Helbling, Amy Rask (Kenny Vetter), Eric Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Maggie (Wally) Seibel, and Bill (Ashley) Schafer; 24 Great Grandchildren, and one Great-Great Grandchild.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Lillian Eckroth, husband Donald P. Johnson, infant daughter Mary Johnson, and grandchild Jessica Bitz.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Edgewood at Lakewood, Caring Edge Hospice, Father Waltz, and Mary Ellen Rebenitsch.
