David Dailey, 63, Mandan, died February 11, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Reverend Mark Drews officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 6 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
David was born on October 4, 1949 in Aberdeen, SD to Eugene and Donna (Luken) Dailey. His family moved to Mandan when he was in middle school. David then attended Mandan High School. He started working at George’s Bakery in Mandan at age 16 which ignited his passion for baking and led to his lifelong career. On October 10, 1970 he married Linda Nelson in Mandan. David worked as a baker at Dakota Maid Bakery, Red Owl, Econo Foods, and Central Market. His daughter, Laura, has special memories of the birthday cakes her father always made for her. David also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family vacations to Medora and the Black Hills. He also loved Elvis and watching westerns. A family man with a wonderful sense of humor, David will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Blessed to have shared his life is his wife of 42 years, Linda Dailey; daughter, Laura Dailey; mother, Donna Dailey; sisters, Gloria (Delton) Nelson and Robin (Marvin) Nelson; brothers, Don (Lori) Dailey and Dale Dailey, all of Mandan; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Clayton Nelson Jr., Grand Forks.
David was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, and his in-laws, Clayton Sr. and Grace Nelson.
