Chloe (Wead) Leingang, age 88, of Mandan, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, at Miller Pointe in Mandan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at First Lutheran Church in Mandan. Cremation has taken place and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Family and friends are invited for food and fellowship in the church basement immediately following the service. Burial will be held at 2 PM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
Born on January 15, 1938, in Mandan, Chloe was the beloved daughter of Evert and Luella (Lahren) Wead. She grew up in Fort Rice until her family moved to Mandan where she attended junior high and high school, graduating from Mandan High School in 1955. Chloe attended Jamestown State College and Christie’s Beauty School before pursuing a career in cosmetology. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary. Later in life, she worked a part-time “fun job” as a black jack dealer at the Mandan Moose Club.
Chloe married the love of her life, Richard Leingang, in 1957. They were married 42 years until his passing on February 1, 1999. Together they raised 4 children, Chet, Todd, Russell, and Jill. Chloe found joy in bowling, which she did up into her 80’s, and she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading. Throughout her life, Chloe was known for her kindness, and always being well dressed with perfect hair, although no one could cut it right, and her sometimes “spicy” attitude. If she had an opinion, you knew it. Chloe and Richard spent summers at their lake cabin, fishing and socializing with their lake friends and they enjoyed many travel adventures together. Above all, she enjoyed her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Chloe is survived by her children, Todd (Laurie) Leingang, Russell (Tammy) Leingang, Jill (Tom) Hertz, and daughter-in-law, Deb Leingang; 8 grandchildren, Nikki (Rob) Pedersen, Jaymi (James) Langer, Eric Strom, Brittany (Tyler) Helfrich, Kylie (Cam) Heidrich, Jaden (Sara) Hertz, Bryn (Ashley) Hertz, and Laura (Cole) Heilman; 14 great grandchildren, Brentley, Scarlett, Jackson, Ezra, Paysen, Sutten, Colter, Kinzley, Griffin, Riley, Edyn, Everett, Aela, and Vincent; brother, Nick Wead; and sister, Joycelyn Noakes.
Chloe was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Richard; their first-born son, Chet on November 21, 2021; and her parents and grandparents.
Chloe will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ND Veterans Cemetery or First Lutheran Church of Mandan, in honor of Chloe.
