Charlene Bowers, 81, Mandan, died August 31, 2015 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Reverend Shane Campbell celebrating. Burial will be at the ND Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Vigil/Rosary at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Charlene was born June 1, 1934 north of Hebron, ND to Henry B. and Philamina (Tavis) Morman. She graduated from Beulah High School in 1952 and worked for Esterly Law Firm. On June 1, 1953 she married Darhl E. Bowers in Beulah. They moved to Mandan in 1953 where she worked at Ben Franklin, was a hostess and bookkeeper at the Gourmet House and bookkeeper at John Iverson Co. and Jennings Lumber Company. Charlene later worked as for Person & Bush CPA for 27 years, retiring in 2010.

Family was the most important thing in her life. Charlene was a hardworking and caring woman who took care of everyone. Her home was open to family and friends and she’d always ask “Have you eaten?” Charlene loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. She loved to dance and taught her children how. Charlene also enjoyed playing the piano. Her faith was important to her and she was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan. A beloved mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to all she met, Charlene will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Blessed to have shared her life are her seven children: four daughters, Beverly (Andy) Gieser, Salt Lake City, UT, Patty Kottsick, Mandan, Julie (Earl) Steidler, Bismarck, and Diane (Brad) Faehnrich, Mandan; three sons, Gary (Rhonda) Bowers, Jeff (Laurie) Bowers, and Richard (Lynn Dee) Bowers, all of Mandan; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Lorenz (Nathan & Noah); Adrienne (Marcell) Starks, Kasey (Tony) Piccalo (Tony Jr.), Kayla Geiger (boyfriend, Tyson Hammond)(Calby & Trevin), Wendy Steidler (Dreyson Owens), Amy (Brent) DeKok (Mya & Bryant), Missy (Rocky) Thompson (Eli, Macie, & Layla), Zachary (Autumn) Bowers (Jhett), Sheena Bowers (fiancée, Cole Sandau), Jake Faehnrich, Braden Bowers, Braxton Bowers, Dezirae Bowers, Katelyn Eisenbeis, JenaDee Bowers (fiancée Mitch Wolf) (Beckam & Vega), Kaytlyn Bowers, Jaysea Bowers, and Rylee Bowers; two brothers, Vern (Ople) Morman, Olympia, WA and Harold (Bernice) Morman, Mandan; two sister-in-laws, Yvonne (Myron) Bornemann, Pick City, ND and Gloria Bowers, Beulah; one brother-in-law, Wallace (Judy) Bowers, Miles City, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Charlene was preceded in death by her husband in 2002; her parents; her in-laws, Lester and Mildred Bowers; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Agie) Morman; grandchildren, Lee & Kristie Kottsick; and Dahrl’s sisters and their spouses, a brother, and two nephews.
