Catherine “Cathy” Letzring, 84, New Salem, died May 5, 2012.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with Reverend Amalraj Roche celebrating. Burial will be at St. Pius Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm on Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Pius Catholic Church, New Salem, with a Rosary/Vigil at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Cathy was born April 18, 1928 in Mandan to Frank Sr. and Edith (Pfliger) Sturn. She was raised and educated in Mandan, graduating from Mandan High School. On November 18, 1950 she married Vernon Letzring in Bismarck. They made their home as the third generation on his family farm north east of New Salem where they shared their life and raised their two children. In 1996 they moved into New Salem. Very kind and loving, Cathy worked at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem for 21 years, retiring in 2005. She continued to volunteer at Elm Crest and also Meals on Wheels. A talented seamstress, Cathy enjoyed sewing and mending for her family and friends. She liked her flower gardens and playing cards. Most important to her was her family who will carry the memories of her as a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 61 years, Vernon Letzring, New Salem; daughter, Sheryl (Curt) Rohweder, Wishek, ND; son, Brian (Joell) Letzring, on the family farm in New Salem; five grandchildren, David (Tammy) Rohweder and Denise (Paul) Morman, all of Wishek and Miranda, Brianna, and Alisha Letzring, all of New Salem; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Ray) Price, Price, ND and Monica (Robert) Neibauer, Bismarck; two brothers, Bernie (Kathy) Sturn and Jim (Sharon) Sturn, all of Billings, MT; and countless friends.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one granddaughter.
