Brian Lee Schmidt, 49, Mandan, died June 28, 2011 at his home of natural causes. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Cremation has taken place and the family will greet friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home with a Vigil at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Brian was born August 19, 1961 in Bismarck to Larry and Evelyn (Fleck) Schmidt. Raised and educated in Mandan, Brian went on to attend Bismarck State College and University of Mary, graduating with a Master’s in business and accounting. He loved the challenges of receiving an education. Brian always enjoyed golf, fishing, and watching sports. Reading was his favorite pastime. His nieces and nephews were very special to him and he loved them like his own. A kind, soft hearted, and loving man, Brian will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
Blessed to have shared his life is his mother, Evelyn Schmidt, Mandan; sister, Natalie (Dean) Leingang, Mandan; brother, Troy (Kris) Schmidt, Bismarck; nieces, Ashley (Josh) Jacobchick and Jamie Leingang (Ty Mowder); nephews, Blake and Jaden Schmidt; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Brian was preceded in death his father, Larry, in 2005; and his grandparents.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
