Betty Fitterer

Mar 13, 1940 — Sep 8, 2026

Glen Ullin

Betty Lou Fitterer, 86, of Glen Ullin, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin, with Pastor David Skjoldal officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Betty Lou Fitterer was born March 13, 1940, in Blue Grass, North Dakota, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Roemmich) Nagel. She moved with her family to Glen Ullin as a young girl, where she was raised and educated.

Following high school, Betty worked a variety of jobs before meeting Fabian Fitterer. The couple was married on February 13, 1965, and Betty moved to the farm, discovering that farm life was quite a change for the "city kid" she had been. Over the years, she learned to milk cows, raise chickens, and tend a garden.

Betty learned to cook from her mother and mother-in-law and became known for the wonderful German specialties and baked goods she prepared for her family and others.

After her daughter, Sandra, was grown, Betty began working as a CNA at Marion Manor, a role that allowed her to care for others with the same kindness she showed to those around her. She worked there 25 years.

Betty loved to travel and enjoyed seeing different parts of the United States whenever she had the opportunity. She collected little tokens from the places she visited, from spoons to magnets, creating a collection of memories that represented the many places she had seen. But no collection could compare to her beloved Betty Boop collection, which became a true reflection of her fun-loving personality.

Betty was always on the go. She enjoyed shopping, attending craft fairs, and searching for unique treasures. She was also a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church in Glen Ullin.

Betty will be missed by her husband, Fabian; daughter, Sandra Roth; grandchildren, Lesley (Tony) Geers, Lacey (Jordan) Markwardt and Collin Roth; great-grandchildren, Elijah Roth, Livvy Grace, Jaxon, and Leah Geers; sister, Lerrene Kroh; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister; brother-in-law, Protase Fitterer; and sister-in-law, Adelphia Fitterer.
