Bennie Becher

d. January 17, 2013

Bennie Becher, 89, Bismarck, died January 15, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with Reverend Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will take place at Peace Cemetery, New Salem. Cremation has taken place and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Bennie was born January 6, 1924 in Blue Grass, ND to William and Hannah (Abrahams) Becher. As a young child he moved with his family to a farm north of New Salem and attended country school through the eighth grade. A hard worker all of his life, Bennie worked with his uncle in Glen Ullin. In 1955 Bennie bought a gravel truck and worked with contractors throughout ND building roads. On March 19, 1969 he married Frances Kokot in Las Vegas. In 1969 he began working with Jim’s Redimix of Bismarck, hauling sand, gravel, and running the pay loader. He retired in 1985 and then enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trips to the casino. Bennie was energetic and always willing to help others. He’d always finish a project he started and was very handy, a real “Jack of all Trades.”
Blessed to have shared his life is his wife of 43 years, Frances Becher, Bismarck; sister, Selma Lieb, New Salem; sister-in-law, Tinette Becher, Mandan; aunt, Luella Abraham, Owatanna, ND; special friends, Mike and Tracie Wobbema, Bismarck; and numerous cousins, three nieces, and a nephew.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry and Edward; brother-in-law, Hilary Lieb; and his aunts and uncles.
