Ardella Schwagler, 82, New Salem, died March 19, 2018 at Elm Crest Manor.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with Rev. Russell Fitch officiating. Burial will be later in the spring at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, March 22 at Zion Lutheran Church and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Ardella was born June 14, 1935 in Beulah to August and Louise (Scherer) Christian. She attended school through the eighth grade. On April 25, 1959 she married Robert Schwagler at Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem. Ardella worked for the Morton County Soil Conservation District and later managed Sunset Motel with Robert for five years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, LWML of Zion Lutheran, Miles Around Homemakers, and Red Hat Club. Always happy and outgoing, Ardella loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed playing cards with her siblings and nieces. Ardella loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her most precious times were those spent with her children and their families, especially holidays with everyone.
Blessed to have shared her life is her husband of 59 years, Robert Schwagler, New Salem; daughter, Kristie (Rick) Baldridge, St. Michael, MN; sons, Rocky Schwagler, Forsyth, MT and Todd (Sharon) Schwagler, Mandan; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (DJ) Wessel, Andrew Baldridge, Kaitlyn (Ben) Wolden, Lindsey, Blake, and Luke Schwagler, and Eric Lawrence; 6 great grandchildren, Grayson and Emma Grace Wessel, Zayden Schwagler, and Landon, Lane, and Lance Lawrence; 3 brothers, Loren Christian, Marlen (Sheila) Christian, and Randy (Linda) Christian, all of New Salem; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Schwagler and Linda Schwagler, both of New Salem; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ardella was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Leopold and Christine Schwagler; sister-in-law, Mary Christian; brothers-in-law, Edgar and Lester Schwagler; sister & brother-in-law, Della (Arnold) Flegel; and nephew, Darrin Schwagler.
